Special Room “Tsumugi”

This Celestine Corner Twin room is decorated with Oshima Tsumugi, considered one of the three greatest textiles of the world. In light of the historical significance of the hotel location, where the Satsuma clan daimyo’s mansion once stood, and to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Meiji Restoration in 2018, the authentic Oshima Tsumugi, one of the rarely seen traditional crafts of Kagoshima prefecture, was used on the cushions and the headboard.

Guest Lounge

The guest Lounge, fashioned after a living room in a mansion, contains books and works of art that remind one of the history of the hotel, combining both Western and Japanese culture. One may enjoy free drinks and biscuits (or alcoholic drinks for a fee). Please relax in this comfortable living room where one can feel soft sunlight through the trees.

Spa AMUSTAS

Based on the concept of “Japanese Comfort,” Spa AMUSTAS welcomes guests with delicate vertical lattices and gentle lighting. We have two room types, available for single guests or guest pairs. Please relax as you spend time in this healing space.

Historical Sites

Hotel The Celestine Tokyo Shiba stands on the grounds of what was the Edo residence for the Satsuma-han (domain), with many artifacts from the Edo period. These include a stone plaque for the Satsuma-han residence, the site where Saigo and Katsu held their famous meeting, Zojoji Temple, the ancestral temple for the Tokugawa family, Atago Shrine… Enjoy a slice of Edo history hidden amongst the buildings of Shiba in Minato Ward. We’ve prepared a map for you to start your exploration of the various remains in the area, starting with the remains of the Satsuma-han residence, a launch point for the Meiji Restoration.
