This time, we would like to introduce “Kyoto Karakami Workshop Karamaru,” which is located about a 15-minute walk from the hotel. This is a workshop where everyone from children to adults can casually enjoy the experience of "Kyo Karakami", a traditional Japanese craft handed down from ancient times.

There are 3 types of experience courses in total, and depending on the course, you can use real woodblocks that have been passed down for over 100 years and touch Kyoto Karakami under the direct guidance of craftsmen.

There is a shop on the 1st floor. Original products such as panels, lighting, and pouches made with Kyoto Karakami are available, and can be purchased as souvenirs or gifts for loved ones. In addition, craftsmen are actually working at the karakami studio on the second floor, and if you apply for the "Oval paper printing experience" course, you can observe the delicate process up close.

The owner of the shop runs the workshop with the hope that people of all generations will learn about the traditions of Kyoto Karakami that have been passed down by our predecessors, and that they will be able to come into contact with them.
